In the age of Pinterest, I have seen creative and cute ideas done by brides over and over. I have seen average showers turned into an extravagant event, and I can not even begin to count how many cute crafts I found on Pinterest that have turned into disasters…..[insert yarn balloon example that turned into a temper tantrum and glue disaster]. But all in all, I am a huge fan of the site. I have always love magazines simply because I love to feed inspiration to myself. I feel the same way about Pinterest, aside from the time warp I occasionally find myself sucked into as soon as I log in. With all of that being said, I have seen and attended countless Reveal Parties. People invite their closest family and friends over and everyone finds out whether they are having a boy or a girl at the same time. I have seen the reveal happen in every which way from the couple cutting into a cake not knowing if the inside will be pink or blue to the couple opening up a box filled with balloons that float off and share the surprise. But this party was one of firsts. This is the first time I have heard of the couple already knowing what they were having. I do not know how they kept the secret….but they did! On the same day they had their ultrasound, we did a mini-shoot at their house. The plan was to use the black and white images for the invitations and announcement, and then have a large color metallic print made for the party. After the reveal, guests would be able to sign on the balloons. Lizzy and Corey also shared their plans for the reveal. They planned on setting off fireworks that would reveal whether they were having a baby boy or baby girl. Let me clarify, these were no rinky-dink bottle rockets….these were legit, Fair St. Louis Style Fireworks that would be shot off for everyone in their loft (and most of the city) to see. Lizzy has me convinced that this is the kind of reveal that just might start another Pinterest trend. It is something I have never seen or heard of….and the evening was pulled off flawlessly! Needless to say, I am very excited to share this night with you all!
(If they look familiar, you may remember these two from their snow session we froze our booties off for last year.)
I was IN LOVE with the main table that Lizzy and Corey had Coordinated…..complete with uplight of course!!!!
Okay, this next photo MAY just be one of the most favorite photos I have EVER taken!!! Everyone gathered awaiting the firework display to begin and as the photographer, I had so much suspense awaiting THIS moment. To be surrounded by your closest friends and family and share this big news that is going to change everyone’s life……I can just feel the love and excitement that filled the room when I see this.
IT’S A GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! To top off Lizzy’s credentials for “Hostess with the Mostess”, she even hand made each of the pink necklaces below and had one for each girl attending the party to take home with her! It was so incredibly thoughtful and sweet!
I had a feeling from the beginning what they would be having, and I was very excited to find out
As soon as guests entered, they had their photo snapped with their prediction. (Lizzy – your dad is a funny guy!)
And a big thank you and shout out to my assistants (and Firework man) for the night! Introducing my cousin, Clayton and his super cute girlfriend Caroline. They were in town from Dallas and helped me all evening! Love you two!!!!
And a big shout out for Lizzy and Corey! They are BOTH extremely creative and talented!! Any brides looking for a DJ, Corey owns Arch DJ. And you may have noticed how AWESOME Lizzy and Corey’s home was….that is no coincidence….Lizzy is the designer and owner of Dashing Design.
