We originally had planned on heading down to the Lake of the Ozarks for Christina and Brantley’s Engagement session. We were going to have a weekend full of lake time, bonfires, and s’mores. If you are from St. Louis, you are well aware that plans can change in October. It was indeed another Red October, and the Cardinals had us all changing our plans. The same weekend we had planned on making our lake trip was the weekend the Cardinals would be playing the Boston Red Sox at home for the 2013 World Series. Suddenly, we all thought staying in town was absolutely necessary. We even decided to brave the craziness of the World Series crowd and snap a few amidst the excitement. We had been racking our brain for another shoot location. I asked Christina what the two of them do on an average weekend. You know, the kind of Saturday where you have no prior obligations or commitments filling your time. Without hesitation, she said, “Oh that’s easy. We stop by a coffee shop and then go to Eddie’s Guitar shop.” DING DING DING. My goal was to capture the two of them as themselves and the kind of things that set them apart. What better place to go than the place they spend every Saturday at. Brantley even brings the shop donuts each weekend. I know we had plans to go to the lake (which I will still go on any free weekend when it warms up if you still promise to take me skiing!), but I honestly would not have changed a thing about this day.
I couldn’t help but smile when I saw the cover art for John Mayer and Katy Perry’s new single, “Who You Love”. Especially after seeing this shot.
